Winter Solstice:  Liminality between Dark and Light.

As the year draws to a close, we approach the liminal time of Winter Solstice.  This occurs as the earth reaches the farthest point on its elliptical path around the sun, it transitions from moving toward the dark, to returning to the light.  This liminal moment, on the longest night of the year, is a threshold that can be used to set intentions for the new year and manifest change.

As the days grow darker, our bodies sense it is time for hibernation, making room for quiet time, and to access the pathways to our souls. As thoughts turn inward, we may recognize our shadows, or take time to dwell on strengths and how you’d like to grow as a person, or a little of both.

To celebrate the rebirth of light on the Solstice Day, light a candle, reflect on what you have learned and enjoy mulled cider, full of spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and orange to represent the warmth of the returning sun.
